About Canadian University of Bangladesh

Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) has started its journey since June 2016 with the visions and missions of providing excellent education and generating emerging knowledge applicable for the Era of ICT. The assortment challenges of new generation equipped with the materialized global knowledge commanding the attention of the students, and yet be delivered in a method and at a pace that will permit the student to achieve success.

'Sajeeb Wazed Joy Online Rapid Chess Competition 2020' is sponsored & organized by Canadian University of Bangladesh on the occasion of the 50th birthday of Bangabandhu grandson and Honorable Prime Minister's ICT Adviser Mr. Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the implementer of Digital Bangladesh.

In the virtual inauguration ceremony of the final round, the honorable State Minister of Youth and sports Mr. Zahid Ahsan Russell will send his good wishes in a video message.

Dr. Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, Honorable Founder and Chairman, Canadian University of Bangladesh, General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation, Mr. Benazir Ahmed, Inspector General of Police & President of Bangladesh Chess Federation will be connected in a video conference in the inauguration ceremony.

Along with the desired title, the total cash prize of BDT 150000 for the nine-round Swiss game has been offered. As part of the formation of enlightened people, the winners will be given 'The Unfinished Memoirs', 'Karagarer Rojnamcha' of Bangabandhu and 50th birthday commemorative 'Mujib theke Sajeeb' of Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

The Sajeeb Wazed Joy Online Qualifying Rapid Chess live tournament is going to be held on the chess.com live site.

The tournament will take place in two rounds. The selection round was held last Saturday at 5pm. From the selection round, first twenty players will be selected to participate in the final round which will take place on 27th July at 4pm.

In the final round using zoom is mandatory for the participants. The tournament will be monitored by an international and a national arbiter. Besides, a committee with eight members will be in continuous monitoring so that no player can break the rules of fair play.

1st prize: 50,000 tk
2nd prize: 30,000 tk
3rd prize: 20,000 tk
4th to 6th prize: 5000tk
7th to 11th prize: 4000 tk
12th to 16th prize: 3000 tk

Along with the prize money, the winners will be gifted with three books each.
