Canadian University of Bangladesh observed the 77th Birthday of the martyr poet Mehunnessa on August 28, 2019.
It was jointly organized by the Media Club of the university and Shopnokola Shangskritik Bhubon, FNT. The program was inaugurated by Manoranjan Ghoshal, Chief Adviser of Swapnakala Cultural Bhuban, artist of Sadhin Bangla Betar Kendra. Poet Muhammad Nurul Huda, Ekushey Medalist and writer was the Chief Guest.
Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, PEng presided the ceremony. Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam, Adviser to the Board of Trustees and Professor Willam H. Derrenger, Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Social Science were present as special guests. Kazi Rozi, Former MP and Bangla Academy Shahitto winner spoke as the key note speaker along side with Kazi Mohini Islam.
They spoke about the sacrifices of the martyr poet and her family went through in the Liberation war 1971.
Dept. of Film and Television Head Dr. Nurul Islam Babul hosted the program. Mr. Md. Latiful Khabir, Registrar (Acting) was also present in the program. Spontaneous presence from students of all the Departments were observed.">
